Creative Therapy

Here at Path to Peace Wellness, we strive to offer unique and creative approaches for our clients. Every person who enters is walking a different path; therefore, everyone deserves a unique treatment approach that is tailored to their specific needs. Some might benefit from artistic techniques while others might enjoy being closer to nature and taking a walk during session. Children usually respond to a more hands-on approach, which is why we offer play therapy approaches as well.

Expression

Through Art

By using creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, coloring, or sculpting, one can express themselves artistically, leading to a better understanding of feelings and behavior so resolution of deeper issues can be examined.

Together we explore the creative process and the resulting artwork to uncover feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior and addictions, develop social skills, improve reality orientation, reduce anxiety, and increase self-esteem.

No artistic talent is necessary to succeed because the therapeutic process is not about the artistic value of the work, but rather about finding associations between the creative choices made and a client's inner life. These expressions can be used as springboards for reawakening memories and telling stories that may reveal messages and beliefs from the unconscious mind.

Who it Helps

These creative techniques can be beneficial for children, adolescents and adults who have a difficult time expressing feelings through traditional talk therapy. These can also be effective for those experiencing developmental, medical, educational, and social or psychological impairment.

How it Works

The use of art invokes and stimulates both brain hemispheres meaning it can improve critical thinking and build empathy.  Self-expression through artistic creation has therapeutic value for those who are healing or seeking deeper understanding of themselves and their personalities.

What's in It for You

These techniques can help resolve conflicts, improve interpersonal skills, manage problematic behaviors, reduce negative stress, and achieve personal insight while in a safe therapeutic environment.
